Transforming energy for a greener future.

Comprehensive renewable energy solutions.

Our consultancy and contracting teams bring experience in the design and construction of civil infrastructure for solar farms and battery energy storage sites (BESS). We also offer balance of plant solutions and construction of infrastructure for onshore wind turbines. Working on client projects across the UK, we ensure a seamless integration of technical expertise and practical execution on every project.

Planning and development

Empowering projects from vision to reality.

Our detailed understanding of the development process helps our clients identify the opportunity for renewable energy development on their site. We provide project feasibility assessments plus advice on securing land rights, grid connections (including private wire) and technology optimisation. Expert consultancy teams, within our Planning and Environmental divisions, take projects through the design and planning process, helping to deliver Ready-to-Build (RTB) schemes whether for wind, solar, battery storage, or hydrogen energy.

Engineering and infrastructure design

Innovative design for effective renewable solutions.

Once a development opportunity has reached Ready to Build status, Sirius provides bespoke civil engineering consultancy and site investigation services to help design cost effective site access, infrastructure, drainage and foundation solutionss for any renewable energy project.

Supporting construction and project delivery

Dedicated on-site contracting services.

Sirius Renewable Energy doesn’t stop at design; our contracting teams bring the plans to life with on-site construction services to support Environmental Procurement and Construction  (EPC) Contractors and renewable energy investors. From construction of infrastructure serving solar and battery energy storage sites, to the Balance of Plant needed to support on-shore wind projects, Sirius builds to the highest standards, ensuring efficient project completions, helping to bring your capital project to fruition.

An EPC Contractor stands for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction. In the UK energy sector, an EPC contractor manages the entire lifecycle of a project – from initial design to final construction and commissioning.

For solar farms, EPC contractors:

  • Design the system layout and handle technical specs
  • Procure all necessary equipment (solar panels, inverters, etc.)
  • Construct and install the system on-site
  • Ensure compliance with UK grid regulations and planning laws

This “turnkey” approach means clients receive a fully operational, grid-ready system.

Sirius offer design and build solution to EPC contractors for the civil engineering elements of solar, wind and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Solar farm sizes in the UK vary depending on purpose and land availability:

  • Small-scale (community/commercial): 1–5 MW
  • Utility-scale: 10–50 MW and beyond
For reference, the UK’s largest solar project, Cleve Hill Solar Park, is planned at 350 MW

As a rule of thumb:

  • 1 MW of solar = approx. 4–5 acres of land
So, a 20 MW solar farm typically spans 80–100 acres.

Sirius has extensive experience developing solar farms throughout the UK. We have taken projects from site identification, land acquisition, grid connection and planning application to design and build out.

In the UK, the average household consumes around 3,800 kWh of electricity per year.

To supply 1,000 homes:

  • You’d need roughly 3,800,000 kWh/year
  • This requires about 4MW of solar capacity
  • Which typically fits on around 20 acres of land (ground-mounted)

Solar performance depends on your location – southern UK regions tend to produce more energy due to higher solar irradiance.

Sirius has created a development portfolio of around 500MWp of solar capacity with most projects either ready to build or under construction.

Renewable energy generation from solar or wind is intermittent due to the variability of weather systems (wind) and the length of daylight hours (solar). Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are crucial to support the operation of solar and wind projects as they store renewable energy during periods of high generation and low demand and provide power to the grid when demand increases.

Sirius has created a development portfolio of around 1 GWhr of Battery Energy Storage System capacity with most projects either ready to build or under construction.

Wind energy projects should generally be developed in locations with high, consistent wind speeds, ideally away from built-up areas and with good access for construction and connection to the grid. The location of wind energy projects will also need to take account of landscape and visual impact, noise, ecology, aviation (radar) and communications links (mobile phone and line of site data links).

With increasing energy prices many businesses with high energy demand utilise wind energy to provide power directly to their premises via private wire. This arrangement can offer significant cost savings to power intensive industrial and commercial operations.

Sirius has extensive experience of developing wind energy projects. Many of our wind turbines have been developed to successfully provide low price, low carbon energy directly to industry via private wire.
