Continued mineral operations at Lowthorpe Quarry

Our planning team has successfully secured planning consent to continue mineral extraction operations and for a revised restoration scheme to be implemented at Lowthorpe Quarry in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Our planning team were instructed by Bob Stabler and Son to prepare a planning application to continue mineral extraction and processing operations, and to revise the restoration scheme at Lowthorpe Quarry.

Lowthorpe Quarry has been a consented chalk quarry since the early 1950’s. As the site still has a sizeable amount of mineral remaining and based on the remaining void, the planning application was to continue mineral operations for a further 17 years.

The amended restoration plan will provide the opportunity to maximise biodiversity and landscape enhancements across the site.

The planning application was supported by the following environmental and technical assessments;

Ecology;

Landscape and Visual;

Flood Risk Assessment; and

Stability Risk Assessment.

Planning permission was successfully granted in December 2016.
