We are recruiting a Plant Controller


Founded in 2003, the Sirius Group is a privately owned Engineering and Consulting group, providing high-quality design, construction and engineering services to the built environment.  The Group employs around 225 people to design, develop and construct solutions for the remediation of brownfield sites and contaminated land through use of their own cutting edge plant fleet.  The Group has become one of the leading specialist remediation companies in the UK and also vastly experienced in related areas such as Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Consulting, Drilling/Grouting and Demolition.


We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our fast-growing team in the role of Plant Controller based in one of our regional hubs in Durham or Leeds.


What is the role?

The Plant Controller will play a pivotal role in driving the business’ success through liaising internally with Operations and Site Managers to ensure maximum utilisation of the Plant Fleet to support our contracting businesses.


Responsibilities include:


  • Understanding and programming the Plant requirements of each Region/Site through liaising with Site Manager/Supervisors
  • Organising and scheduling transport to cover deliveries to site
  • Resource Planning for Plant Operators:
    • Sourcing candidates and working alongside agencies
    • Maintain holiday log for operators to ensure sufficient coverage
  • Supporting HR in the administration of Plant Operator training
  • Organising and scheduling third party plant hire





What skills/experience do you need to do it?

  • Experience of working in Plant Hire or similar industry with transferrable skills is preferred
  • Confident communicator able to liaise with all levels of the organisation
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
  • Previous experience using Hire software is preferred
  • Full driving license

  • The role will be dynamic and will require strong organisational skills
  • A degree of travel will be required


Salary – £35,000 – £40,000 per annum

Hours – Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm with additional hours when necessary

Pension – Employer 5% and Employee 3% into the company’s salary sacrifice pension scheme with the right to opt out

Holidays – 21 days per annum, plus 8 statutory Bank Holidays
