South Wales Solar Farm Planning

Date: May/14/2016

Here at Sirius we strive to create powerful partnerships with other organisations in order to build a portfolio of renewable energy projects for a more positive future for local communities. To this end, we’ve teamed up with SBC Renewable Ltd on a number of projects, including this latest solar farm situated on land at Corntown Farm near Bridgend in South Wales.

Planning permission secured on South Wales solar farm

Using our in-depth knowledge and experience, we’ve secured planning permission for the development of a 3.5MW solar park – another great success story in this ever-changing and important energy sector.

Project details

The solar farm will cover 8 hectares of lower grade agricultural land to the south of the A48 and approximately 2km south of Bridgend Industrial Estate. By developing the site for renewable energy use, together our businesses will be able to offer a potential reduction in carbon dioxide production of an impressive 30,500 tonnes over the life of the project.

Our environmental planning specialists were responsible for:

  • Preparing the planning application
  • Preparing all supporting environmental assessments including:
    • Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment
    • Archaeological studies
    • Ecological studies
  • Stakeholder consultations which included discussions with the relevant community council

We’re currently exploring the potential to supply local businesses with low carbon renewable energy from the solar farm, which would add to the benefits provided by this project.
