Specialist enabling works contractor The Sirius Group has announced further investment in its plant and logistics fleet, reinforcing its capability to deliver complex projects nationwide.

The business has taken delivery of a Volvo FH16 780 6×4 tractor unit, supplied by Volvo Trucks UK via Crossroads Truck & Bus Ltd, paired with a Faymonville Trailers to the MAX 4-Axle Multimax Step Frame Trailer with a hydraulic widening bed. The new heavy haulage combination enhances Sirius’ in-house transport capability, allowing more efficient mobilisation of oversized and specialist plant across the UK.

In parallel, Sirius has expanded the capability of its drilling division with the arrival of new Comacchio MC8 hydraulic drilling rigs, supplied and commissioned with support from JKS Boyles UK Ltd. The rigs will be deployed to projects across the UK in the coming weeks.

The Comacchio MC8 is a versatile medium-sized rig designed to undertake rotary site investigations, micropiling, soil nailing, rock anchoring, shallow mineworking stabilisation and technical grouting operations. Its compact footprint and advanced articulation make it well suited to constrained and technically challenging sites.

Andrew Thomas, Drilling Operations Director at The Sirius Group, said:
“This investment strengthens our ability to self-deliver specialist drilling works safely and efficiently across the UK. The flexibility of the MC8 rigs, combined with improved in-house logistics, allows us to maintain productivity and control on complex sites while meeting the high standards our clients expect.”

The latest additions form part of The Sirius Group’s ongoing strategy to enhance national self-delivery capability across its integrated enabling works services, supporting infrastructure, regeneration and development projects throughout the UK.
