Press Releases - "Sirius expands new drilling services division"

Leading UK remediation firm the Sirius Engineering Group has launched a new Drilling Services Division on the back of record future orders worth £17 million.

The new division, will combine the benefits of latest drilling technologies and a highly experienced workforce to provide clients with drilling and grouting treatment of shallow mine workings, mineral investigations, rotary site investigations, drilling for Ground Source Heat Pumps and installation of soil nails and rock anchors.

Sirius Group is a member of the British Drilling Association (BDA).

Experienced geologist and drilling manager Andrew Thomas has joined Sirius from Van Elle Ltd, to head the new division.

He said “Sirius is expanding and I’m delighted to be appointed to head this new venture, which compliments the group’s existing services, providing our clients with a fully integrated ground stabilization and remediation business.

“Although we have been involved in drilling and grouting services for many years, this is the first time we have taken these services in-house. It’s an exciting time for Sirius and marks a new phase in our expansion.

Sirius was established in 2003 by a team of engineers and consultants who wanted to provide a complete all embracing land remediation solution, from pre-acquisition assessment and initial site investigations through testing, risk analysis, design, engineering and remediation works.

Since then it has developed into a £14m turnover company, employing more than 100 staff across three divisions – Sirius Geotechnical and Environmental, Sirius Remediation and Sirius Drilling Services – and operating from three bases in the North of England.

At the beginning of this year, the company secured a new 4,000 sq ft regional HQ at Thorpe Park, Leeds and launched a new website at www.thesiriusgroup.com It also expects to increase its workforce by a substantial 25 per cent over the next twelve months.

In addition to being ISO 9001 and Investors in People accredited, Sirius holds an Environment Agency Mobile Treatment Licence (MTL) authorising it to manage the treatment of contaminated materials, substances and products.
