08/12/11 - CONTRACT AWARD
Bellway Homes Yorkshire have appointed Sirius Remediation to prepare 13 acres of the former M.O.D. Royal Ordnance Factory at Barnbow, Leeds for residential development. The integrated design and build project involves the extensive treatment of former mineworkings, using our in house resources, and the re-engineering of the overlying materials to form new development contours. The 24 week programme will commence in January.

24/11/11 - CONTRACT AWARD
Sirius Remediation have been awarded the contract to prepare the enabling works for the £120m Flemingate Project in Beverley, East Yorkshire. The 16 acre regeneration site will provide retail , leisure, office , hotel and residential facilities for the town. Work commenced this week and consists of extensive decontamination and re-engineering of areas previously occupied by a tannery and latterly the Museum of Army Transport.

01/08/11 - Demolition services go from strength to strength
Demolition, processing and crushing of the former Manuel Brickworks, Whitecross, near Falkirk commenced in April 2011 and is scheduled to be completed on programme in October 2011. The buildings once formed Europe’s largest brickworks and primarily comprise large portal framed sheds with extensive slabs and foundations as well as significant areas of external hardstanding.
Sirius have been appointed by Norfolk based property developers Morston Assets to demolish the first phase of buildings, covering 10 hectares of land, which forms part of the larger Yours Whitecross new community.
Phill Collings, Remediation Director, said “this is a landmark site in the continued growth of Sirius’ demolition services and has taken months of careful planning to ensure that the works are carried out in a safe and economically manner to the highest of standards”.

27/10/10 - Tynemouth Lion’s Head Fountain
On Saturday 25 October 2010, Sirius lent their expertise and machinery and jointly assisted Gentoo Homes on a community project at Tynemouth Long Sands beach, to unearth a buried Victorian Fountain, known as the Engine Well. The event was brought about to commemorate the death of Tynemouth resident, Will Hogg, who died on a charity swim event last year. Will was a former lifeguard and Chairman of the Tynemouth Voluntary Life Brigade (TVLB) who had a life long wish to see the fountain restored to its former glory.

11/12/09 - Sirius turns Red for a day
On Friday 20th November staff at the Sirius Durham office decided to dress themselves in Red for Children in Need 2009. As part of the fund raising staff came into the work wearing an assortment of red items to help the charity. As well as this several office staff took time out to bake a lovely selection of cakes and biscuits for the event with all the proceedings going to Children In Need. The company also kindly added to the donations made by its staff.

On 29 July this year, the High Court held that birth defects could have been caused to a group of children due to the actions of Corby Borough Council (CBC) whilst remediating a contaminated site. CBC had purchased the site earlier from British Steel and was regenerating it for new industrial activities.
08/10/09 - Sirius appointed as Housing Hartlepool’s term demolition contractor to drive forward regeneration
Since appointment in April 2009 Sirius is already undertaking two key demolition contracts with a third due to commence in mid October 2009. Sirius is working in partnership with Housing Hartlepool to determine the best way to take the sites forward and this has led to increased use of the services offered. Other services include asbestos removal, remediation of the land post demolition and site investigation. Sirius has also taken the burden away from Housing Hartlepool to deal with pre-demolition site constraints such as services, ecological constraints and the like.

14/07/08 - Sirius - Durham Allcomers Regatta results
Sirius entered two crews in the Durham Allcomers Regatta held on the River Wear on Saturday 28th June, with the sun shining down on the 18 crews entered. Although the mixed crew of Alastair Cook, David Brooks, Leanne Rayner and Sarah Hutchison rowed well, a combination of poor starts and rickety boats meant their challenge was doomed early on. However, the mens crew comprising Rob Schofield, Chris Brady, Phil Brown and Iain McLean, despite losing in their first heat, won through the reparche to the final, where they lost narrowly by half a length, failing to regain the trophy won last year.

Following their success last year, Sirius are entering two crews in the Durham Allcomers Regatta to be held on Saturday 28th June on the River Wear. The Mens IV are hoping to retain their title and trophy won last year, whilst the mixed crew will be hoping for success in their division.
