Sirius Drilling Services (SDS) 

Sirius offers a professional one-stop shop for quality geotechnical, environmental and remediation services. To complement our Cable Percussive site investigation operation we also carry out site investigation by rotary methods and offer a full drilling and grouting service.

In the UK, mineral extraction through the years has resulted in a legacy of abandoned shallow mine workings dating back to Roman times. Coal, ironstone, sand and sandstone, limestone and metaliferrous minerals have all been mined at depths that can, and do, interact with and destabilise the surface. These redundant mine workings can result in serious problems. Careful consideration needs to be given to them right from the start because the investigation, and any treatment, can be fundamental to the economic success of your development.

From Investigation to Remediation

Sirius Drilling Services (SDS) is a member of the British Drilling Association (BDA). The division provides a full range of geotechnical services to investigate and remediate any sites, uncovering mineworkings, analysing their impact and making them safe. With our modern high production rotary drill rigs and experienced operatives, we can provide an accurate cost effective service for your development site. From a simple probing exercise to assess depths to more detailed strata and spot core surveys, SDS can provide the solution.

Our rotary rigs and experienced crews have a track record of success in production drilling and grouting methods for the treatment of mine workings and entries. In addition, we are always happy to advise you on potential treatment costs free of charge.
